5/11/11 Weather Update

Today's temperatures remained in the 60s and 70s as I predicted. I also woke up to some thunder storms this morning as a result of the mid latitude cyclone. Winds are currently at moderate speeds out of the south and southeast as I predicted as well. Nimbostratus clouds covered the sky for most of the morning.

For tomorrow, we can expect much of the same as another low pressure system moves over the area bringing more rain and possible thunderstorms. Winds will shift back to the east and expect temperatures to remain in the same range as they were today.

5/10/11 Weather Update

Today was by far one of the warmest day's of the year so far. Temperatures in fact reached up into the lower 80s with temps maintaining in the 70s for most of the day. Clouds were mostly clear with several altostratus clouds. Winds were also out of the East at moderate speeds which indicates an approaching low pressure system. There was no precipitation today.

As I mentioned above, there is a low pressure system approaching that could very well produce some rain and thunderstorms tomorrow. With these warm temperatures, the storms definitely have a chance of being severe since storms thrive off of warm weather. Winds will shift to the south and SE as the low pressure approaches. Temperatures should remain in the upper 60s and 70s.

5/4/11 Weather Update

Today definitely felt more like spring. The temperatures were finally breaking 60 and cloud cover was kept below 10% for most of the day. There were several cumulus clouds and some altostratus clouds later in the day. Winds were fairly moderate mostly out of the S and SW today. No precipitation occured.

For tomorrow, there could be a chance for some showers and t-storms scattered throughout the day as a mid latitude cyclone approaches the area. There should not be anything significant as there is already an occluded front forming from the center low. Winds will shift to the east and southeast for most of the day as the low approaches. Temperatures should be in about the 50s. It looks like no golf for me though in the near future, not because of bad weather but because of a $1,200 repair that is required on my car for Friday. Was not the best news this morning...

5/2/11 Weather Update

For the first posting in May, I am really starting to wonder if Spring will ever come. However the rest of the week is starting to look promising. Today however still feels like we are in early March. Temperatures today never felt like they broke into the 40s, mostly due to the fact that we are currently in a trough. Attributing to the cold was a NW wind bringing that cold air from the arctic air mass. Skies were also 100% covered with stratus clouds dominating. Wind speeds however were at much lower speeds compared to what I experienced this weekend in Green Bay. It is always interesting to watch a softball game (my girlfriend pitches for St. Norbert) when there are 30+ mph winds.

For tomorrow we can expect skies to clear up as a high pressure dome moves into the area. As a result of the clear skies, more sunlight should increase the air temperature hopefully into the upper 40s and lower 50s. Expect no precipitation and winds out of the S at moderate speeds. Hoping to get out golfing tomorrow morning as well.

4/28/11 Weather Update

Today was a little cooler than I originally anticipated. Stratus and nimbostratus clouds dominated the sky and I encountered constant rain on my drive to Green Bay this afternoon from 3:30-6:30. At times there was heavy rain and at other times very light rain. It was pretty cool to look out in the distance and see the nimbostratus clouds dumping rain several miles ahead. Winds today continued out of the NW which along with the trough brought the temperatures down.

For tomorrow we can finally expect a spring feeling day. Temperatures should be in the upper 50s and lower 60s with clear skies as a high pressure dome moves into the area. Winds will also shift to the SW at moderate speeds. Expect no precipitation as well.

Southern Tornadoes

This morning the death toll number has increased substantially from the storms that ravaged the south. The toll is now up to 200. I have also included a link below to a New York Times article and I recommend clicking on the video along the left hand side that includes some incredible footage of the storms and the tornadoes.

4/27/11 Weather Update

After yesterday's endless rain, today was a bit lighter on the precipitation. There were times of very light rain but there were no significant amounts. Winds however were fairly high out of the NW bringing in colder air and keeping today's high around 42. Skies were also mostly covered for most of the day with stratus clouds. Temperatures remained mostly in the mid to upper 30s for most of the day.

For tomorrow, temperatures should be a bit warmer into the 40s and possibly lower 50s. Winds should continue at moderate speeds out of the NW. There may also be a slight chance of rain during the day.

My thoughts also go out to those in Alabama who were affected by a mile wide tornado today that killed 25 people.

4/25/11 Weather Update

Today's weather was amazing. I actually went to the driving range for the first time today this year. It was nice to get the clubs out and hit a couple golf balls. It was mostly clear for most of the day and the temperatures have been mostly in the the very comfortable range of the 60s. Wind speeds were pretty high today as well out of the E and NE. There were a few cumulus clouds here which turned over to stratus currently.

For tomorrow conditions should be cooler than they were today and also with high winds like today. Rain is a possibility and skies should be mostly cloudy. Expect the winds to be out of the NE.

Friday, April 22, 2011

4/22/11 Weather Update

Today's weather was fairly interesting with very strong winds from the NE followed by a steady rainfall, which I will take over snow. Skies were mostly 100 percent covered for most of the day. Most of the clouds being stratus and altostratus. Temperatures were mostly in the upper 30s and lower 40s, any colder and it might actually be snow that we are getting now. The amount of rain could also be a lot worse including thunderstorms. The mid latitude cyclone that is currently centered in Kansas however is dying of significantly with a fairly big occluded front extending north into the Dakotas.

For tomorrow, we can expect skies to remain mostly cloudy and temperatures to remain about the same. No precipitation though is expected. Expect winds to be out of the W and NW at moderate speeds.

4/20/11 Weather Update

On my way to campus this morning at 7 am, snow was coming down at a somewhat decent pace and was actually accumulating on the ground. The snow on the ground however did not last very long at all. By 9 it was all gone and temperatures were starting to warm up slightly. Overall today however the temperatures were fairly cold as I predicted and stratus clouds dominated the sky. Winds are currently out of the N and NW as I predicted as well.

For tomorrow we can expect skies to clear up quite a bit with a high pressure system moving in. This could also allow for warmer temps as more sunshine is let in. Winds may also shift to a SW or S orientation if the system moves at a northwest track. No precipitation is expected.

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

4/19/11 Weather Update

Today was not exactly what I expected as far as precipitation goes. From the looks on the radar I was expecting quite a bit of snowfall but there was not a single snowflake until a few hours ago. There is now a decent amount of sleet/snow coming down. Winds have been coming out of the east as I predicted at moderate speeds. Stratus clouds have dominated the sky and temperatures have been in the mid 30s for most of the day.

For tomorrow we can expect some more snow in the morning and then winds shifting to the NW as the system moves through. Skies will continue to be mostly cloudy with temps once again staying in the low 30s. I could really go for some warm weather any day now.

4/18/11 Weather Update

I left for Green Bay on Thursday and experienced really extreme winds while watching my girlfriend play softball. Winds were consistently 25 mph out of the north and reached gusts of about 40. It is really unfortunate to experiencing such cold weather for the middle of April. Today was a little better. Clouds were mostly cloudy during the day and is currently dominated by altostratus clouds producing the halo around the sun. Temperatures were mostly in the mid 40s and was fairly comfortable. Winds are currently out of the NE at moderate speeds with a Colorado low moving in.

For tomorrow we can expect some precipitation in the late afternoon as the low moves into the area. Winds will possibly shift to the E later in the day indicating the low has reached us. Temperatures will most likely decrease a bit into the upper 30s and lower 40s.

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

4/13/11 Weather Update

Today was another comfortable day, but cloud cover reached 100% for most of the day with altostratus clouds. I was pretty accurate with the temperatures being in the 50s again but was inaccurate with the cloud cover. Winds are currently out of the SW at calm speeds. Winds early in the day however were coming out of the north. There was no precipitation today.

For tomorrow, we can again expect the temps to drop a bit into the upper 40s and lower 50s. Skies should also again be fairly cloudy with winds out of the NE. No precipitation is expected.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

4/12/11 Weather Update

Today was another comfortable day as I predicted. The skies were mostly clear as I said with cirrostratus clouds here and there throughout the day. Temperatures were in fact warmer than I anticipated and reached into the upper 60s with 67 being the high. There was no precipitation today and winds were at fairly calm speeds out of the W and SW.

For tomorrow we can expect cooler temperatures as a cold front moves through and possibly a slight chance of rain after the front moves through. Winds will shift to the NW at moderate speeds with partly cloudy skies.

Monday, April 11, 2011

4/11/11 Weather Update

Today's weather was pretty calm compared to yesterday's adventurous storms. Temperatures today were mostly in the mid 50s with a moderate to slightly strong wind out of the west. Cloud cover vary quite a bit today with current sky conditions being completely clear. At times today there were some altocumulus clouds dominating the sky as well as cumulus clouds dotting the sky in the early afternoon. There was no precipitation today.

For tomorrow we can expect more of the same. Temperatures may be slightly warmer that they were today. Winds will continue out of the west at moderate speeds and precipitation is expected. Skies should also be mostly clear.

Thursday, April 7, 2011

4/7/11 Weather Update

Today was an absolutely beautiful day. There was just a slight breeze out of the SW and skies were mostly clear the entire day with only a few cirrus clouds dotting the skies. Temperatures again were in the upper 40s early on and increased into the 50s for the rest of the day. All of this is pretty close to what I predicted for today. It was definitely nice to be wearing a t-shirt and shorts for the first time in a long time.

For tomorrow, we can expect to see a lot of the same thing. Temps should be in the upper 40s to low 50s for most of the day and skies will be mostly clear. Calm winds will also be coming out of the SE tomorrow.

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

4/6/11 Weather Update

I unfortunately had to work extremely late last night and was not able to make a post. But the weather the last two days has been very nice.Today's high actually reached 59 degrees. Skies have been mostly clear today with some cumulus clouds and some altostratus clouds as well. winds were generally from the north at moderate speeds, making it feel slightly cooler especially on my walk to and from school. There was no precipitation.

For tomorrow we can expect most clear skies again with light winds out of the SE. Clouds should increase throughout the day with a low pressure system moving in. Temperatures should continue to stay in the upper 40s.

Monday, April 4, 2011

4/4/11 Weather Update

Today felt a lot colder than the temperature gauges indicated due to a strong NW wind bringing in a lot of arctic air.  Today's high was 44 degrees, but it certainly did not feel that warm. Winds are still coming out of the NW at calmer speeds however. There was about 50-70% cloud cover for most of the day that included fairly dark cumulus humilis clouds. There was a slight bit of rain that almost felt like someone was spitting on me it was so light.

For tomorrow we can expect temperatures to warm up into the upper 40s with mostly clear skies. Winds should be fairly calm out of the W and SW. There could also be a slight chance of light rain late in the afternoon. It is also interesting looking at the weather map for today and the mid latitude cyclone that is currently in the Northeast. The cold front extends all the way down to the gulf and then back up into Texas. It has been a long time since I have seen a line of storms and rain that extends all the way from New England down into the Gulf of Mexico.

Thursday, March 31, 2011

3/31/11 Weather Update

Today actually felt cooler than I originally anticipated. Temperature wise, today's high was 50 degrees but to me it felt cooler since it wasn't very sunny for most of the day. The skies were 100% covered for most of the morning but then the skies began to break up. Winds are currently out of the SE at a very calm speed. I believe it was out of the NW originally however and then shifted to the SE since there is an approaching warm front. There was no precipitation today.

For tomorrow, we can expect some rain in the morning as the low pressure system moves in. The mid latitude cyclone is already beginning to weaken since the warm front is becoming occluded already. We can expect a little bit of snow and rain mix. Winds will be out of the west and NW as the fronts move through.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

3/30/11 Weather Update

Today's temperatures were very comfortable as I predicted, if anything it was actually warmer than I anticipated. It was very sunny for most of the day and the winds were very moderate out of the NW as I said. There was a few cirrus clouds that dotted the sky as well.

For tomorrow we can once again expect almost the same exact weather that we have had for the last couple days. Temperatures will again be in the upper 30s and lower 40s and winds will be fairly calm out of the NW again. No precipitation is expected as well.

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

3/29/11 Weather Update

My predictions today were pretty accurate. The skies remained mostly clear today with a few cirrus clouds spotting the sky. As I drove home from tutoring it was fairly ironic that the sunset produced a redness effect after we talked about it today during our folklore exercise. There was precipitation today and the temperatures were comfortably in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Winds continued to come from the NE for most of the day, but they are beginning to shift to the NW producing cooler temperatures currently.

For tomorrow, we can again expect much of the same. Mostly clear skies with temperatures in the upper 30s for most of the day. Expect no precipitation and winds to be out of the NW.

Monday, March 28, 2011

3/28/11 Weather Update

Weather wise, my weekend was fairly interesting. I am from the Green Bay area and experienced around 18 inches of snow in Green Bay. And just few miles south in Appleton/Oshkosh they only received 2 inches of snow and a mix of rain and sleet. Of course I came back to EC after break to find out that my roommates have not even started shoveling our driveway and the big pile of snow at the end of our driveway.

Today's weather was also pretty interesting. The skies were mostly clear most of the day along with cold weather, which usually tends to happen but the winds were out of the NE rather than the NW. The winds were at moderate speeds and there was no precipitation. We can expect the weather to be fairly similar tomorrow but with slightly more cloud cover and also slightly warmer temperatures.

Friday, March 18, 2011

3/18/11 Weather Update

My predictions for today's weather were fairly accurate. The temperatures today were mostly in the 30s as I said but the winds did reach higher speeds than I anticipated out of the west, which made for lower wind chill temps. The skies started out mostly cloudy with altostratus clouds dominating the sky and then it turned over to completely clear skies as I walked home from class. There was no precipitation today.

For tomorrow, temperatures should remain about the same with being in the 30s. Skies should be mostly clear as well with a high pressure system moving in. Winds should lighten up a bit and continue coming from the west.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

3/17/11 Weather Update

Due to a late work schedule, I was not able to make a posting yesterday. My predictions for yesterday's weather was accurate for the most part. It was actually warmer than I anticipated. My driveway at home is turning really muddy now with all of the melting snow and warm temps. Skies were mostly clear as well with some altostratus clouds in the sky along with cirrocumulus.

Today's weather has been another warm day but skies have been mostly cloudy for the majority of the day, altostratus clouds I believe. There was a little bit of rain showers earlier this morning as well. Winds have mostly been from the west at fairly calm speeds.

With an approaching cold front, we can expect temperatures to drop a little bit, probably mostly in the 30s. Winds will continue to come from the west at moderate speeds and skies should be mostly cloudy again.

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

3/15/11 Weather Update

My forecast for today was pretty accurate for the most part. The temperatures were mostly in the upper 30s and lower 40s as I predicted. The skies were a bit clearer than I originally thought. Skies were mostly clear and progressively became cloudier throughout the day and it is now 100% covered with stratus clouds that are producing light amounts of rain. Winds were mostly out of the S and SW today at moderate speeds.

For tomorrow we expect similar temperatures as they were today, perhaps a bit warmer in the 40s for the majority of the day. Skies should be mostly clear and winds should also be fairly calm out of the W. Expect no precipitation.

Monday, March 14, 2011

3/14/11 Weather Update

After working extremely late on Friday, I was not able to post when I got home. But my forecasting for Friday's weather was fairly accurate. The temperatures and cloud cover were accurate, but I don't believe there was any snowfall overnight.

Today's weather provided very nice conditions. The skies were about 95% clear with only a few clouds here and there, most of them being cirrus and some altostratus clouds. Temperatures were mostly in the low to mid 30s with a slight breeze out of the SW. There was no precipitation today.

For tomorrow we can expect partly cloudy skies with about 60% or so coverage. There is also a chance for some snow/possible rain as a low pressure system moves into the area providing the sky coverage. Winds will shift to the S at slightly faster speeds than today. Temperatures will remain mostly in the upper 30s possibly into the 40s.

Thursday, March 10, 2011

3/10/11 Weather Update

I woke up this morning to find a thin sheet of ice on my car, so the overnight temperatures must have been fairly cold. As I predicted, the temperatures today were pretty comfortable as they were in the 30s for most of the day. The wind did make it feel colder out of the northwest, which was correct. There was no precipitation today and the skies had a bit more coverage than I expected with several cumulus clouds doting the sky.

For tomorrow we can again expect similar conditions as they were today. Expect a decent amount of cloud cover, perhaps 25%, and the winds to shift to the southeast which could possibly bring some light snow overnight tomorrow.

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

3/9/11 Weather Update

Today's snow accumulation was very low in comparison to what was expected earlier from forecasters earlier in the week. Roads were very clear and driving conditions were good throughout the day. The snow was fairly heavy however and I had several clumps of snow fall on me from trees on my walk to school. So my prediction of just a few inches of snow was correct and the skies were 100% covered most of the day with stratus clouds. Winds were also out of the northeast at a moderate speed.

For tomorrow we can expect warm temperatures possibly in the 30s for most of the day and clear skies. Winds will mostly be out of the northwest at moderate speeds.

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

3/8/11 Weather Update

My weather predictions for today were accurate for the most part. The temperatures actually increased today from yesterday and reached a high of 42. The overall feeling of the weather outside was very comfortable today with the warm temperatures and light wind out of the northeast. There was increasing cloud cover throughout the day and appeared to be cirrostratus clouds as I walked out of class today. There was no precipitation today.

For tomorrow, EC County is still in a winter weather advisory so we can expect a fair amount of snow tonight and into tomorrow. As we discussed in class today however, due to an underestimated difference in air mass temperatures, there will not be as much snow as originally anticipated. Winds should shift to the north with a 100% sky coverage and a couple inches of snow accumulation.

Monday, March 7, 2011

3/7/11 Weather Update

My predictions were fairly accurate for Saturday's forecast. It wasn't quite as cold as I thought it was going to be. These next couple days should be interesting with some snow being predicted to accumulate and Eau Claire County being in a winter weather watch until Wednesday afternoon. There was a little bit of accumulation today, perhaps an inch or so. The snow was very light in fact and melted very rapidly on the roads. Temperatures were also very comfortable today in the low 30s and upper 20s. Winds were also moderate out of the north for most of the day. Clouds covered most of the sky for the day.

For tomorrow we can expect temperatures to stay about the same as they were today and for the skies to be mostly cloudy, perhaps 50% or more coverage. Winds will be out of the northeast at a fairly calm speed.

Friday, March 4, 2011

3/4/11 Weather Update

Temperatures were fairly warm today with most of the temperatures in the upper 20s or lower 30s, which is about what I expected from yesterday. Winds were also moderate out of the north as I predicted. There was a slight drizzle today but not much at all. The roads stayed safe since the temperatures were warm enough. Skies were also mostly cloudy today with about 75% or more coverage.

For tomorrow, we can expect temperatures to drop with a cold front moving in. Expect temps mostly in the teens. Cloud coverage should be about 50% and winds will continue to move in from the north at moderate speeds.

Thursday, March 3, 2011

3/3/11 Weather Update

As I predicted yesterday, the temperatures did warm up today as the trough pushed towards the east. The skies were 100% covered for most of the day and we also received a little bit of snow during the early afternoon hours, which I mentioned yesterday. There are currently several low pressure systems in the western half of the United States that is producing scattered precipitation in that part of the country. Winds were fairly calm today with the occasional gust.

Along with a bit of a warm front and warmer temperatures, we could see some scattered precipitation that if cold enough could cause some slightly slick roads. Winds should be moderate out of the north and expect the skies to mostly cloudy as well.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

3/2/11 Weather Update

This morning's walk to campus was very, very cold with wind chills below zero. As I predicted yesterday, temperatures today were overall much cooler than earlier in the week and it is easy to see why in the photos below. The trough is very evident as it dips down through the center of the United States in the current weather map. The skies started out mostly clear today, but around 2 o'clock today the sky was about 90% covered with altostratus clouds. I predicted clearer skies than it was today, but was quickly proven wrong when I walked out of class today. Winds were also fairly strong today out of the north and northwest as I predicted.

For tomorrow, temperatures could warm up slightly as the trough could potentially move east and bring less cold air from up north. Winds will most likely stay the same as they were today in the lower teens out of the south. Snow could also be a possibility with precipitation developing on the west coast currently.

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

3/1/11 Weather Update

Today's temperatures were fairly warm and very comfortable today as I discussed yesterday. The temperatures seemed to be in the mid 30s most of the day, but it felt slightly colder as I walked across the bridge after class as the wind picked up out of the southwest. The winds were a little stronger than I anticipated. The skies were mostly clear today as well with less than 10% sky coverage. Altostratus appeared to be the dominant cloud in the sky today.

We can expect temperatures to decrease tomorrow as a cold front moves into the area tonight. Wind speeds should increase slightly and make the temperature feel even colder with the north and northwest winds bringing in the cold air. Skies should again be fairly clear with the occasional cloud coverage.

Monday, February 28, 2011

2/28/11 Weather Update

For the last day of February, it was fairly cold today. It definitely helped having clear skies and moderate winds out of the west contributing to the cool weather. Today's high was 27 with a low of 7 degrees. There was also no precipitation.

The temperatures should warm up tomorrow with a low pressure system moving in. Temperatures could reach into the 40s possibly and the winds should be fairly moderate out of the W.

Friday, February 25, 2011

2/25/11 Weather Update

Today's temperatures were definitely cooler than they were yesterday due to the advancement of the trough into the Wisconsin region. The high today was 23 with a low of 14. Winds were fairly calm out of the northwest. Skies were also mostly cloudy with I believe stratus clouds dominating the sky.

For tomorrow, we could possibly see some snow and temperatures will remain mostly in the teens. Snow is a possibility with a fair amount of cloud cover. Winds will be calm.

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Temperatures today were very similar today to what they were yesterday. The high today was 34 with a low of 23. The winds were mostly out of the North and Northeast and there was increasing clouds throughout the day. As I walked out of class today, I noticed the clouds were possibly altostratus as the sun was barely visible through the 100% covered sky.

For tomorrow, we could see colder temperatures as the trough forming over the Dakotas moves toward Wisconsin. Winds should be fairly calm with mostly clear skies.

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

2/23/11 Weather Update

The weather was indeed warmer today but with no precipitation. Today's high reached 34 and the low was 22 degrees. The winds were fairly calm mostly out of the south. Skies were mostly cloudy with some sunshine during the day as well.

For tomorrow, temperatures could get colder with a cold front moving in. Winds will continue to be moderate but will shift toward the northwest as the cold air starts to move in. Expect to see mostly clear skies as well.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

2/22/11 Weather Update

The temperature is currently 22 degrees with a slight wind out of the South/Southwest. There was no precipitation today and the skies were mostly clear today with only a few clouds. Temperatures reached as low as 7 degrees and as high as 28 degrees. My predictions were fairly accurate with the winds being out of the SE and the temperatures warming up with clearer skies.

For tomorrow, there could be a slight chance for precipitation and the temperatures will continue to increase possibly into the 30s with a low pressure system moving in with a bit of a warm front.

Monday, February 21, 2011

2/21/11 Weather Update

The snow fall continued today for most of the day creating very slippery road conditions as I said yesterday. As I predicted, today's temperatures were mostly in the teens with the winds mostly out of the NE at fairly moderate speeds. The skies should clear up tomorrow and the temperatures should be a little bit warmer than they were today. Expect the winds to shift to the SE at moderate speeds.

Sunday, February 20, 2011

2/20/11 Weather Update

After another busy weekend at work, I am finally able to sit at my computer and make a post. Today was definitely the most interesting day to report on weather just due to the fact that it has been consistently snowing all day long. Snow accumulation is closely approaching 8 or 9 inches and will likely continue on through the night and into the morning. Winds were very strong and cold today out of the northeast as the winds moved to the low pressure system currently sitting in Iowa.

Tomorrow we can see snow continuing throughout most of the morning and possibly more in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop into the teens and possibly single digits with winds continuing at high speeds from the northeast.

Thursday, February 17, 2011

2/17/11 Weather

I woke up this morning to intense fog cover as a result of the low pressure system and the melting snow which allows the water to evaporate into the air overnight. Winds were fairly strong today out of the west with the highest gust recorded at 31 mph. This brought the temperatures down a little bit with the high being 47 and the current temperature at 33 degrees. The skies today were also mostly cloudy as well.

There was no precipitation today, which is not what I predicted. Temperatures were also cooler than I thought and the winds did shift to the west instead of the south.

Tomorrow we can expect the winds to stay relatively moderate in the teens and the temperature to drop a bit more in the the 30s for most of the day. Skies will also be partly cloudy.

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

2/16/11

Today's high was surprisingly at 52 degrees with a slight breeze out of the south. The temperatures were much warmer than I anticipated. This may be a result of the mass melting of snow cover in the area and most of the nation. Eau Claire County is also under a fog warning, which I have not seen the of effects too much yet. The clouds today were partly cloudy as well.

For tomorrow, there may be some slight precipitation with a low pressure system moving in. This system will also allow more warm weather for tomorrow, potentially in the 50s again. Winds should continue to be moderate out of the south.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

2/15/11

Once again, the weather today was beautiful. The winds were fairly strong this morning on my walk to class, but have since died down a little bit. Winds today were mostly out of the south as they circled around the high pressure system that is currently in the northeast. There was quite a bit of cloud cover this morning and into the afternoon until the warm front moved through and left clear skies in its path. Temperatures are currently 38 degrees with winds about 10 mph out of the south.

I can see the temperatures tomorrow being in the upper 30s possibly lower 40s with winds out of the S and potentially SW. Skies will be mostly clear and should continue to see the snow melt away to further help warm the weather.

Monday, February 14, 2011

2/14/11

Today was another gorgeous day in comparison to last week. There were a lot of puddles on the sides of the streets and the huge piles of snow are quickly beginning to disappear. As long as the temperatures stay above freezing over night, hopefully it won't turn into ice. My forecast today was fairly close as the temperatures were actually slightly warmer than I predicted. It is currently 33 degrees with a slight breeze out of the south, mostly cloudy, and no precipitation.

For tomorrow, the warm streak should continue with temperatures in the 30s. Winds will continue to come out of the south at a moderate speed. And lets hope that the roads don't get too slick or overflowed with water.

Sunday, February 13, 2011

2/13/11

Today definitely felt more like spring than it has been in a long time. By the time I left work tonight at 11 the temperature outside was about 40 degrees but it felt a little cooler than that with a west wind that was fairly strong at times. Skies were mostly clear today as I predicted along with the warm temperatures. This warm period should continue into tomorrow but with slightly cooler temperatures in the low 30's and upper 20's and winds shifting to the northeast at a moderate speed.

2/12/11

I have had to work really late the last couple nights and have not been able to make observations of the weather outside. I still have to work the next two days, but I am going to make up for it by making weather observations and predictions around noon today and tomorrow.

The temperatures have warmed up extremely compared to the last couple days as the jet stream finally made a move to the north. Winds are fairly calm today out of the SSW and the temperature sits at about 28 degrees. Skies are mostly cloudy however with a chance of snow.

For tomorrow I am expecting the temperatures to be even warmer and the skies to clear up a bit. Winds will be fairly calm from the SW. Should be interesting to watch across the nation as all of the snow starts to melt and the consequences that may come with that with floods and other dangers.

2/9/11 Weather Update

Today was almost identical to yesterday's weather as I predicted. Temperatures again hung around 0 degrees and wind chills reached around -20. Winds were mostly out of the NW and were fairly calm today. Tomorrow we can see some clouds moving in with the wind staying in the single digits probably out of the SW direction.

2/8/11

Right after class today I had to go straight to work and I just got home for that, so I had to do this post a little later than usual. Today was incredibly cold and hovered around 0 degrees during the majority of my work shift. Wind chills were also around -20 from the SW. Winds were not as strong as I predicted but just a little bit of wind in these temperatures can make a huge difference. Temperature were also a little higher than I anticipated.

As for tomorrow, I expect much of the same with mostly clear skies again and wind chills around the -20s. Winds will possibly shift more to the W or NW as the high pressure system moves through. It is definitely going to be another cold one tomorrow!

2/7/11 Weather Update

I'm back in Eau Claire now after a couple days at home, but made it back to EC before the big game. Super Bowl Champs!! Green Bay was crazy on Friday and Saturday...can't even imagine last night.

The temperature within the last few hours has definitely taken a turn for the worst as it is 8 degrees outside right now with about 10 mph winds out of the NNW. Skies today were cloudy with a little dusting of snow this morning. It looks like tomorrow will bring some very cold weather with that high pressure system coming in and that "trough" beginning to form in the Dakota's. Other weather reports are showing wind chills close to 35 below and winds reaching 20-30 mph out of the West. Can only hope for class cancellations! Highly doubtful but you never know.

2/4/11 Weather Update

I was able to get home safely with no snowfall on the way. But the road conditions and the amount of snow here in Northeast Wisconsin is no where near what we got in Eau Claire. This is obviously due to the lake enhanced snow. Temperatures were a bit warmer today with a slight breeze and mostly clear skies, which is accurate compared to my forecast from yesterday. In Denmark, WI the temperature is currently 19 degrees with winds at 10 mph out of the SW.

As for tomorrow, I can see the weather being very similar to what it was today. Perhaps a bit warmer temperatures into the upper 20s and a slight breeze in the single digits. Skies will be mostly cloudy as well.

GO PACK GO!

2/311 Weather Update

My weather update was fairly accurate for today. The wind did die down as compared to two days ago but it was mostly clear and winds were out of the SW. As of right now the temperature is 18 degrees with winds at 14 mph out of WSW. There was no snow today either.

As for tomorrow, I am predicting a moderate wind in the low teens out of the SW with temperatures warming up into the 20s. I am also hoping for no snow fall tomorrow for my drive to Green Bay!

2/2/11 Weather Update

My weather prediction was a lot better today than it was yesterday, probably because we talked about the weather for today yesterday in class. The wind was coming from a mostly NNW direction and made the temperatures today very chilly. As we talked about in class, the sky was mostly clear and made it very deceivingly cold when we normally associate sunny skies with warm weather. There was no snow today as well.

As for tomorrow, the temperatures may continue to be very cold and the wind will also continue to be fairly strong in the teens range. The winds will also shift a little more to the south in the SW range and the skies will still remain mostly clear.

2/1/11 Weather Update

As expected my first weather forecast was not entirely correct, but I guess that's why I am taking this class. The winds did pick up as I predicted, but they did not increases as significantly as I thought. The winds today were moderate mostly around 10 mph or so from a NNE direction. There also wasn't any snow fall that I witnessed this morning but there was snow on my car that accumulated overnight. Otherwise today was mostly cloudy with moderate sunshine at times.

My prediction for tomorrow is for cooler temperatures due to the low pressure system pushing by. The winds will mostly likely move toward a more direct N perhaps NW direction and the clouds should break up and become just partly cloudy tomorrow.

1/31/11 Weather Update

Overnight and all throughout the day there was a very steady and light snowfall that caused very slick roads and accumulated around 3 inches. It was also getting pretty old brushing off the snow on my car several times today. Current temperatures outside are 16 degrees with a slight breeze around 10 mph coming from the NE.

I would expect the weather tomorrow to be pretty similar to today with not as much precipitation, probably mostly in the morning. The winds might also pick up into the upper teens for most of the day. Below is a radar image captured from my iPhone.
